Initially there was some confusion as to whether or not Mickey Rourke had been offered the role of the Crimson Dynamo or Whiplash in the upcoming Iron Man 2, though most news sites eventually believed that the Dynamo role was more likely. However, Robert Downey Jr. revealed in an interview with MTV that Rourke would not be playing the soviet armor-wearing villain.

"That's actually incorrect," Downey said after being asked if Rourke was being considered for the Dynamo. When asked if, as had been suggested, that Rourke was instead up for the role of Whiplash, Downey was a bit more evasive. "I can neither confirm nor deny that," said Downey. "Or maybe it's some semblance of both. Here, I can tell you everything about the story except I won't give away the ending. The nerd stuff is top-drawer security."

In either case, Rourke has yet to officially sign for the film, although he had gone on record saying that he would bring "everything I can bring" to Iron Man 2.
