It seems a long-gestating tale of a bizarre serial killer has found its lead actor. According to the New York Post, Mickey Rourke has signed on to play The Ice Man.

The film will be based off the book of the same name by Phil Carlo, which recounts the tale of Richard Kuklinski, a hitman for the mafia who murdered more than 200 people. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura originally had secured the rights to Carlo's book, but the option expired in August when di Bonaventura wanted Channing Tatum to play Kuklinski, and Carlo disagreed. Rourke then met with Carlo and the pair immediately clicked.

"We hit it off beautifully," Carlo said. "We're producing it together. We'll shoot in the spring in New York, New Jersey and Florida."
