Paramount Pictures has hired screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick to draft Micronauts for producer J.J. Abrams.

We first reported on this project nearly two years ago, when J.J. Abrams came aboard to produce. Micronauts were known as MicroMen when they were first launched by the Japanese toy company Takara in 1974. The Micronauts also appeared in a Marvel comic book series in 1979. It isn't known if Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will base the Micronauts movie off the comic book series or not.

Micronauts was one of the projects mentioned by Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner in a conference call to investors, as reported earlier today. Brian Goldner will produce Micronauts alongside J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, and Bennett Schneir.
