Spoiler Alert: This article contains spoilers for season one of The Midnight Club. The Midnight Club, based on the novels by Christopher Pike, is available to binge watch on Netflix. This is the newest collaboration between the streaming service and filmmaker Mike Flanagan, was co-created by Leah Fong (who was a writer on The Haunting of Bly Manor), and it's the first show by Flanagan on Netflix that has not been termed a limited series. However, fans are still waiting to get confirmation if The Midnight Club will be continuing with a season two. Flanagan has stated that he has envisioned various new seasons since Pike wrote over 80 books.

The Midnight Club is a show about terminal teens who live their final months at Brightcliffe Hospice. The group of teenagers continues a tradition inside the old house — the Midnight Club. Every night they wait until midnight to go to the library and tell each other stories, mostly scary ones. They make a pact: whoever dies first has to send a clear message from the beyond so that they can have proof of the supernatural.

There are various mysteries in the series: who the characters are, the true history of the house, if ghosts are real, etc. While it was not Flanagan's most successful Netflix project, there still needs to be a second season of The Midnight Club since many of these and other storylines were left opened and instigated curiosity from fans. Here are some of the things that need to be answered in a second season.

What is Cheri's Diagnosis?

Cheri (Adia) is probably the most mysterious member of the Midnight Club. Because she tends to lie about every aspect of her life, her friends don't have certainty about anything she tells them. They don't even know her diagnosis, the real reason she is there. Cheri was also the only one who didn't tell a story in their daily secret meetings at the library, so it would be a nice element to explore in a second season.

Who Was Dr. Georgina Stanton Calling?

The Midnight Club
Netflix

Dr. Georgina Stanton (played by Nightmare on Elm Street's Heather Langenkamp) is a mysterious character that doesn't appear a lot on the show, even though the actress is a part of every episode as a character from the kids' stories. After finding out that one of her kids is going home, she calls a mysterious person she never addresses the name; but by the tone and subject of the conversation, it was someone she trusted.

Why Only Two Ghosts Appear For the Teens

The Midnight Club
Netflix

It becomes clear that ghosts are real in this particular universe, not only inside the club's stories. So, in a place with so much death, it would be assumed that the teen ghosts would come back and talk to their friends. Granted, this would kill the mystery of them waiting for a sign, but ghosts do appear for the teens, just not their friends. There has to be some kind of rule as to why the only ones are the creepy couple who are able to fully communicate.

What is the Living Shadow?

The Living Shadow in The Midnight Club
Netflix

Two teens died during season one: Tristan (Jenaya Ross) and Anya (Ruth Codd). In the final episodes, Amesh (Sauriyan Sapkota) begins to quickly deteriorate. All of them have something in common: they see what they call a living shadow creeping into the corner of their eye, getting closer. Is the black shadow something that only appears inside the house, or a more general metaphor/creature that would appear to anyone on the verge of death?

Why Do the Ghosts Only Target Llonka and Kevin?

The Midnight Club
Netflix

At the end of the finale, there is a piece of new information about the ghosts that keep targeting Llonka (Iman Benson) and Kevin (Igby Rigney). The ghosts were the couple that bought the house at some point in the past. Besides that, nothing else is revealed, including why the woman keeps telling Llonka that she is hungry. It would be one of the most pressing questions to be answered in the following season, as it was an important part of the narrative for both characters.

Is Kevin Getting Possessed?

At the end of the season, Kevin confides in Llonka that he has been sleepwalking a lot — even waking up in the (nasty) bed in the basement. Twice in the series, Llonka has a vision from the past and encounters a ghost, only to be brought back to reality to find Kevin in front of her instead of the ghost. He could be possessed, but why he goes to the scary cult basement is something left for the audience to wonder.

Who is Dr. Georgina Stanton?

The final shot of the series makes the audience hold their breath with a shocking twist: Dr. Georgina Stanton takes off her wig, showing she is completely bald and has a Paragon tattoo on the back of her neck. Until this point, there was no confirmation that she was associated with the cult, even though it was clear she knew more than she was letting on. She could be the young girl who told the police about all the horrible things that they were doing inside the house, but that is only speculation.

What Is Julia's Real Motivation?

The Midnight Club
Netflix

The revelation of who Sasha was (Samantha Sloyan, aka the famous Julia Jayne) shocked Llonka. Then, after doing everything Julia could to manipulate the young girl, she is finally able to go back into the basement and start a new ritual. Dr. Stanton said that she is probably sick again and wanted to be cured again using Paragon's knowledge. There was no confirmation that that was her motivation behind trying to kill four women she knew.

Flanagan has calmed fans, telling reporters at a press conference that even if the series is not renewed, he will actually post the answers to the show's mysteries on Twitter.
