Dark Horizons was in Seattle Friday night for the premiere of Mike Judge's Animation Show of Short Films and during the Q&A, he talked about his next feature film, which will be his first since 1999's Office Space.
Penned by Judge and Ethan Cohen, the film centers on Joe Bowers (Wilson), an average American who is selected for a top-secret hibernation program that finds him waking up and living among a society 10 centuries in the future. He finds that civilization is so dumbed-down that he is the most intelligent person alive. The film also co-stars "Saturday Night Live's Maya Rudplph.
The film does not have a title despite briefly being called "3001" a few months ago. According to Judge
"It's a long story why, but it's the studio's fault. I really wish I had a title."
Despite not having a name they do have a release date set for August 5th, 2005.
Judge also said that
"King of the Hill isn't going to be around much longer,"
but he and "The Animation Show" co-producer Don Hertzfeldt are talking to HBO about possibly bringing a weekly version of "The Animation Show" to that cable station.
