The director of one of this summer's upcoming blockbusters has found a new film project. According to Variety, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time director Mike Newell will write and direct an untitled spy film for his next project.

The film will be based off the life and mysterious death of KGB agent Alexander Litvinenko. Newell is currently developing the film with screenwriter David Scarpa. The film is based off the book, "The Terminal Spy" by Alan Cowell.

No actors have been attached as of yet, but it was said that the film is in advanced stages of development. Litvinenko died by poison in 2006 and personally accused the Russian President at the time, Vladimir Putin, of being responsible for his death.
