Musical chameleon Mike Patton is going to sing the National Anthem at Tonight's NFL on Fox playoff game in Los Angeles. Fox is taking a chance on having one of the most original vocalists in music history take to the field, which will undoubtedly have Patton fanatics tuning in to the big game. Patton is probably best-known for his work with Faith No More, but he has done many, many projects since, before, and after highlighting his many talents as an artist.

The Los Angeles Rams will take on the Dallas Cowboys at the Coliseum at 8:15 PM Eastern/5:15 PM Pacific, which means that Mike Patton fans should tune in a little before to see what the singer decides to do with the National Anthem. While there are probably more than a few fans who hope that the singer will go out with his samplers and bullhorn to perform an over-the-top version of the song, he will more than likely sing it straight, possibly in a slick crooning style that he has showcased many times over the years. Regardless of what he does, it's going to be good and it's just awesome that the NFL and Fox are giving him the opportunity.

Mile Patton has an intense vocal range that he has shown over the years. He is able to go from a whisper, an Italian pop star style, death metal growler, a cartoon character, a crooner, a rapper, and everything in between. If one had to guess, Mr. Patton will probably leave some of his Mr. Bungle antics at home and go with a traditional take on the National Anthem. However, one of the best things about the musician is his unpredictability. You really never know what you're going to get with Mike Patton, but it will always be good, if not great.

Mike Patton was recently hitting stages with his latest band Dead Cross, who released their self-titled album in 2017, but he has also been hard at work on composing film scores. Patton did an excellent score for Netflix original movie 1922, which was just released on vinyl over the summer. The innovative musician has also provided original scores for The Place Beyond the Pines and Crank: High Voltage.

As for what Mike Patton is currently working on, that is a bit of a mystery. He has been in the studio recently with some of Beck's backing band including, guitarist Smokey Hormel and bassist Justin Meldal Johnsen. The lucky few who have heard the project say that it is "incredible," "beautiful," "heavy," and "sonically inspiring," which sounds like a standard Mike Patton project. Hopefully we all get to hear that intriguing description in the near future. But, we can all tune into Fox tonight to watch Patton do the National Anthem on live television, in front of millions of viewers. Blabbermouth was the first to report this news.
