We said here that the short list to play Conrad "Duke" Hauser, the leader of the Joe team in Stephen Sommer's G.I. Joe included Chris Evans, Matthew Fox and Channing Tatum. Well, according to IGN, Mike Vogel is also up for the role.

Vogel can currently be seen in Paramount's Cloverfield, and the studio has apparently been hot on Vogel for some time now. Vogel had reportedly been in the running to play Captain Kirk in the studio's new Star Trek film.

While this is firmly in the "rumor" category at the moment, but Vogel and his representatives at the Gersh Agency are firmly refusing to either confirm or deny the rumor.

At the present, the confirmed cast list for G.I. Joe includes Ray Parks (Snake Eyes), Rachel Nichols (Scarlett), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Heavy Duty), Said Taghmaoui (Breaker), Marlon Wayans (Ripcord), Sienna Miller (the Baroness) and Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow), and Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Duke's best friend, and Cobra Commander). G.I. Joe is on schedule for a 2009 release.
