After David O. Russell dropped out of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the property, which is based on Seth Grahame-Smith's best selling novel, became a highly sought after project by many of today's most prolific directors. Diverse artists such as Jonathan Demme and Matt Reeves were NEraRsz72zNsux|Reportedly interested in helming this mash-up of Jane Austen and the living dead. But The Los Angeles Times says that Mike White, one of the more interesting directorial choices previously mentioned, is now the forerunner to take over this period thriller.

While White only has one directorial feature under his belt with 2007's Year of the Dog, he has written the hit movie School of Rock as well as the acclaimed drama The Good Girl and the family favorite Nacho Libre. Mike White is being called a logical choice due to his favored way with pitch black comedy, as demonstrated in his independent dramedy Chuck & Buck. He is also seen as one of the few available talents who can balance the varied tones found within Pride and Prejudice and Zombies.

Matt Reeves is definitely not taking on the project, a source close to Lionsgate stated. Though, a definite choice will be announced very shortly as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies rushes towards production.
