John Burdett's mystery series is getting the big screen treatment. According to Variety, Millennium Films has hired James McTeigue to direct Bangkok 8, the first book in the three-part Burdett trilogy.

The film revolves around a Royal Thai Police Force detective who is tracking the killer of his partner, who also happened to be a US Marine. His search leads him through Bangkok's drug and sex trade.

Millennium Films plans to adapt all three books in the series and shoot them in Thailand. No cast has been set yet, but they are looking at some very high profile names. They hope to begin shooting before the end of the year.
