In a recent interview with KTVI, Robbie Montgomery, formerly of OWN network’s Welcome To Sweetie Pies, shared news of an upcoming music performance and more. Most notable were the octogenarian’s maternal sentiments regarding her son Tim Norman who has been charged in a murder-for-hire plot that resulted in the fatal shooting of her grandson Andre Montgomery in 2016. Unmoved by her son’s circumstances, Montgomery vows to continue supporting him.

Norman, who was arrested along with four others and would have been the sole beneficiary of a $450,000 life insurance policy on his nephew, will go to trial in September. According to the criminal complaint:

“There exists probable cause to believe that James Timothy Norman conspired with Terica Ellis and/or others known or unknown to investigators at this time to use a facility of interstate commerce, namely, a cellular telephone, to commit a murder-for-hire in exchange for United States currency.”

In the interview, the former Ike and Tina Turner backup singer said she would support her son through and through and maintained a neutral stance on whether Norman’s involvement in the death of her grandson was good or bad.

“…and not that what he’s involved in is good or bad – I don’t know, but that’s my son, and I can’t abandon him now. So, I’m there for him. That’s what mothers do. We do until death do us part – same as a marriage. So, if something happens to your kid, you [have to] be there for them because you’re their inspiration.”

Critics flocked to the comments section on YouTube, where Montgomery’s interview was published. One person posted:

“have lost all respect for this woman. What about Andre? Did his life not matter? She didn’t even mention Andre. She only talked about her loser son, Tim. Such a disgrace.”

Another person blasted the singer and restaurant owner for promoting her upcoming gig amid the ongoing case, writing:

“She shouldn’t even be doing a tour around right now. Girl, you need to be trying to figure out why the hell your son killed your nephew.”

In actuality, Andre Montgomery was Norman’s nephew and Miss Robbie’s grandson. A third person chastised Montgomery, expressing belief that Andre would have expected his grandmother to stand against wrongdoing.
