Drew Barrymore has signed on to star alongside Toni Collette in the upcoming drama Miss You Already. Drew Barrymore replaces Rachel Weisz, who was attached to star back in April, but has since dropped out.

The story follows two longtime best friends (Drew Barrymore and Toni Collette), whose friendship is put to the test as Drew Barrymore's character tries to have the baby she's always wanted, while Toni Collette's character learns she has breast cancer. Dominic Cooper and Paddy Considine are also starring as the friends' husbands, with Jacqueline Bisset playing Toni Collette's mother.

Here's what director Catherine Hardwicke had to say about the story in a statement.

"Miss You Already explores the ups and down of an intense friendship. With our fearless actors, we're taking this very personal story on a wild ride."

British actor/writer Morwenna Banks wrote the screenplay, with Christopher Simon and Felix Vossen producing for Embargo Films. Production is set to begin this Sunday in the U.K., with shooting scheduled to take place primarily in London before moving to the Yorkshire Moors.

Drew Barrymore most recently starred in the Warner Bros. comedy Blended alongside Adam Sandler.
