The cast for the next two Mission: Impossible movies has just added some star power. Pom Klementieff, best known for her role as Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been tapped for a role in both Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8. We learned earlier this year that Paramount Pictures had locked down a deal with both star Tom Cruise and writer/director Christopher McQuarrie to shoot both installments back-to-back. Now, Klementieff is poised to get in on the action.

Christopher McQuarrie made the announcement personally on social media, sharing the same post on both Twitter and Instagram about his upcoming Mission: Impossible 7 and the back-to-back sequel Mission: Impossible 8. The filmmaker shared a photo of Klementieff and made it clear that she's been welcomed into the fold of the highly-successful action franchise. McQuarrie had this to say in his caption.

"Pom Klementieff, How do you spell femme fatale? #MI78"

Not exactly taking the subtle approach. Unfortunately, McQuarrie didn't provide any additional details, so it remains a mystery as to who the actress will be playing in the upcoming sequels. Pom Klementieff responded to the news by retweeting McQuarrie's post and sharing a fun-loving message of her own.

"Mischief: Accepted."

Pom Klementieff is a French actress who has been on the rise in recent years. Much of that is thanks to James Gunn casting her as Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which went on to become a huge global success. Klementieff reprised the role in both Avengers: Infinity War and this year's Avengers: Endgame, which went on to become the highest-grossing movie in history. Some of her other credits include Oldboy, Ingrid Goes West and this year's animated The Addams Family.

Christopher McQuarrie is writing both of the sequels and plot details have yet to be revealed. Pom Klementieff is the second new addition, and also the second Marvel Cinematic Universe star to board the franchise for the upcoming entries. Hayley Atwell, who plays Agent Peggy Carter, has also signed on for Mission: Impossible 7 in an undisclosed role. As far as returning cast members go, it's also been confirmed that Rebecca Fergusson will return as Ilsa Faust. Regusson's character has been a major player in the previous two movies, Rogue Nation and Fallout.

It hasn't yet been confirmed if Simon Pegg will return as Benji, but that's the expectation. Last year's Mission: Impossible - Fallout went on to gross a series-best $787 million at the global box office, after being met with high praise from both critics and audiences alike. To date, the six movies, which have spanned more than two decades, have grossed more than $3.5 billion at the global box office. Production is expected to get underway sometime next year. Mission: Impossible 7 is set to hit theaters on July 23, 2021, with Mission: Impossible 8 set to follow on August 5, 2022.
