Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise is at it again, risking life and limb for the sake of cinematic entertainment. Released via Twitter, this lengthy look backstage at Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One offers a detailed inspection of what it takes to throw Cruise out of planes and off the sides of mountains. The extended look behind-the-scenes finds Tom Cruise and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One director Christopher McQuarrie putting everything in place in order to carry out "the biggest stunt in cinema history.” The sequence begins with Cruise leaping out of a helicopter (with a parachute, somewhat surprisingly) before driving a motorcycle at high speed off a ramp that happens to be placed at the edge of a cliff. Working with expert stunt performers of differing specialties, the clip reveals that Cruise completed the stunt six times in total over one day. Just reading the details is sure to provide you with a hit of adrenaline.

It’s clear that Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie are determined to push the action envelope further than ever before for Ethan Hunt’s latest adventure in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.

While plot details surrounding Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One remain a mystery, the recent, adrenaline-fueled trailer hinted that, not for the first time, Ethan Hunt and his team will be chasing down a MacGuffin to save the world all over again. For Christopher McQuarrie's part, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will find Ethan facing the ghosts of his past. “There are many things emerging from Ethan’s past," the director explains. "‘Dead reckoning’ is a navigational term. It means you’re picking a course based solely on your last known position and that becomes quite the metaphor not only for Ethan, but several characters.”

Written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One finds the likes of Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, and Frederick Schmidt, reprising their roles from various installments in the Mission: Impossible franchise. The sequel will also see Henry Czerny reprise the role of Eugene Kittridge, the former director of the IMF who was last seen in the very first Mission: Impossible way back in 1996.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will throw a bunch of new faces into the action, including Marvel stars Hayley Atwell and Pom Klementieff, as well as Shea Whigham, Esai Morales, Rob Delaney, Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes.
