Xavier Samuel is set to play a modern day Frankenstein monster in a new reboot of the classic horror tale from original Candyman director Bernard Rose.

This contemporary take on Mary Shelley's iconic story is set in modern day Los Angeles, and is told from the perspective of the monster named Adam. He is created by the husband and wife team of eccentric scientists Victor and Elizabeth Frankenstein, played by Danny Huston and Carrie-Anne Moss. Once the monster is awakened, he is faced with nothing but anger, aggression and violence from the world he now finds himself a prisoner in.

Tony Todd is also starring in the movie. The actor famously portrayed the title villain in Bernard Rose's Candyman and its sequels.

Bernard Rose adapted the screenplay himself, with Gabriela Bacher, Heidi Jo Markel, Jennifer Holliday Morrison, Christian Angermayer, Klemens Hallmann producing.

Frankenstein is being produced under the Bad Badger banner recently formed by Bernard Rose and Jennifer Holliday Morrison, and is leading the team's slate of upcoming cutting-edge horror movies.
