The MCU hasn't missed a beat since Endgame brought a satisfactory conclusion to many of our favorite heroes' stories and has managed to encapsulate audiences even more than before the Avengers saved the entire universe. After all, what does saving one universe matter when we've recently learned from Doctor Strange 2 (and other recent Marvel projects) that there are infinite universes going on in the MCU, all of them having problems just as big as the main timeline, if not bigger. Regardless of how some fans and viewers may feel about the overload of Marvel content, it's safe to say that the franchise is still going stronger than ever.

One project that has kept the MCU train going full steam is the recent Disney+ series Moon Knight, one of Marvel's darkest projects that introduced the world to Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Jake Lockley/Moon Knight/Mr. Knight -- all of whom are different variations of one character played by Oscar Isaac. The character receives his powers from the ancient Egyptian God, Khonshu, serving as his avatar on Earth to punish those who have done wrong. The show has become a massive hit for both the MCU and Disney+ and has broadened the range of which Deities exist in the MCU. So, who exactly are the other Gods that have been introduced?

Ammit & Her Controversial Powersmoon knight other gods ammit Cropped

Other than Khonshu, this is the God that has gotten the most attention in the Moon Knight series. The entire plot of the story revolves around Khonshu and Marc trying to stop Arthur Harrow from awakening Ammit in the first place. That being said, Ammit didn't appear until the final episode of the season and squared off against Khonshu in a battle that seemed like it should have drawn the attention of a few other superheroes in the world (but we digress).

As for her powers, they're very controversial since Ammit is known as the Goddess that passes judgment on others and punishes them for their wrongdoing (just like Khonshu). However, she has the ability to look into the future and determine whether they will do something bad as opposed to if they already have. Meanwhile, Khonshu waits for the act to happen before enacting a punishment, which Ammit claims is too late.

Taweret is Friendly (Yet Deadly)moon knight other gods taweret Cropped

This Goddess is much more friendly than either Ammit or Khonshu (but it is just as deadly). Taweret is the hippo Goddess of women and children, and she was the one who escorted Marc and Steven to the afterlife during episode 5. She later reappeared in the final episode of the season and made contact with Layla before choosing her to be her avatar. Upon taking over Layla's body and giving Layla her powers, Layla transformed into the Scarlet Scarab (no affiliation with the Scarlet Witch).

While the Goddess was in charge of taking Marc and Steven to the afterlife after they'd been shot by Harrow, she was courteous and friendly during the entire trip. She made every possible effort to help the two of them get back to the land of the living in order to stop Harrow and Ammit.

During episode 3, five of the other Egyptian Gods made appearances when Khonshu and Harrow were called forward to plead their case. Khonshu, already banished by the other Gods, only made things worse and crossed a line whereupon he was imprisoned in stone. The five Gods that imprisoned him (and banished him from the start) were Horus, Hathor, Osiris, Isis, and Tefnut.

While the Gods all have certain areas that they're considered deities of (such as justice and retribution or love and music), they also have different powers and abilities. Sadly, aside from encasing Khonshu in stone, their powers weren't really shown much in the series. The five deities made a brief appearance in the final episode before being very easily beaten by Harrow. While the other Gods weren't the focus of the show, and it's understandable that they would meet their demise, they didn't put up much of a fight for all-powerful beings. No wonder Gorr, the God Butcher, has been wreaking havoc on the MCU.

Where’s the 9th God?moon knight 9th god Cropped

With a franchise as popular and neatly wrapped as the MCU, it only makes sense that the tiniest details will always get over-analyzed by the millions of Marvel fans worldwide. One such detail is that Steven Grant explicitly mentioned that there were nine gods in the Egyptian Ennead. Yet, by the end of Moon Knight season 1, only eight deities have made appearances (with five of them apparently dying).

So, with Moon Knight season 2 pretty much guaranteed from the end-credit scene, it might make sense to have that ninth and final Egyptian God make an appearance. Whether it's as a villain or another God to team up with is entirely up to the creators.
