The Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to get darker than ever in Moon Knight, with some newly unveiled promo art giving us another look at the titular vigilante’s ghoulish costume. Starring Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector/Steven Grant/Moon Knight, and no doubt a whole host of other identities, the Disney+ series will drag the MCU down into a pit of monsters, Egyptian gods, and brutal revenge.

Released by Twitter user Moon Knight Era - The CineGeek, and much like a lot of Marvel’s other efforts to bring beloved comic book characters into the world of live-action, Moon Knight’s costume is wonderfully accurate when compared to the source material. Wrapping the hero (or should that perhaps be antihero) in stark, white, unnervingly living bandages which mummify Marc Spector and leave him with glowing eyes and a moon symbol emblazoned on his chest; Moon Knight should be instantly recognizable when he makes his debut on the small screen.

Moon Knight Will Not Shy Away from the Character’s Dissociative Identity Disorder

One of the unique aspects of Moon Knight is the character’s dissociative identity disorder, something which the Disney+ series will not shy away from. In fact, based on the first and so far only trailer for the show, Moon Knight will use the element as the story’s launchpad, crafting a haunting mystery in which Steven Grant cannot differentiate between waking and dreaming.

So far, just two of the character’s identities have been revealed. The story will begin with Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift shop employee, who slowly realizes that he is also Marc Spector, a highly-skilled mercenary. As per the comics, the character primarily uses three other identities to gain information from different social circles in his career as a crime-fighter, making it likely that more will be revealed throughout the series.

Marvel has also since released a synopsis, which teases a central mystery involving the gods of Egypt. "The series follows Steven Grant, a mild-mannered gift-shop employee, who becomes plagued with blackouts and memories of another life,” the synopsis reads. “Steven discovers he has dissociative identity disorder and shares a body with mercenary Marc Spector. As Steven/Marc's enemies converge upon them, they must navigate their complex identities while thrust into a deadly mystery among the powerful gods of Egypt."

Created by Jeremy Slater for the streaming service Disney+, Moon Knight is being directed by Mohamed Diab, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead. Starring Oscar Isaac as Steven Grant/Marc Spector AKA Moon Knight alongside Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, the late Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Mogart/Midnight Man, and May Calamawy, who has been cast in an undisclosed role, Moon Knight is scheduled for release on March 30, 2022, and will consist of six episodes as part of Phase Four of the MCU.

Moon Knight is already on its way to being another massive hit for Marvel Studios, with the first trailer quickly being viewed by 75 million people view it in its first 24 hours, making it one of the franchise's biggest trailer releases.
