Tusk was the first chapter in director Kevin Smith's True North trilogy, which consists of three Canadian set horror movies. The next installment, which has already wrapped, is called Yoga Hosers, and everything will come to an end with Moose Jaws. Up until now, these three movies did not appear to be a part of Kevin Smith's View Askewniverse, which consists of such neo-classics as Clerks, Mallrats and Chasing Amy. The one thing that has always connected the Askewniverse is the omnipresence of Jay and Silent Bob. Now, it seems they will bring everything full circle, appearing in the climax of Moose Jaws. But as Kevin Smith explains it, it's not going to end quite so pretty for one of the dynamic duo.

Over the years, Kevin Smith has become easily identifiable by both his Silent Bob character and his tent sized hockey jerseys. While it doesn't seem like he'll ever retire his personal style, it sounds like he's ready to bury Silent Bob for good. Yes, the character who first appeared in 1994 with a cameo in the director's feature film debut Clerks, is going to be put to rest in glorious fashion. And there will be blood, sweat and a lot of tears.

Speaking with news.com.au in Australia, Kevin Smith described a scene towards the end of Moose Jaws. The wild animal gone berserker tale is a direct homage to one of the filmmaker's all-time favorite movies, Jaws. He wants to finally connect his True North Trilogy and the Askewniverse by bringing Jay and Silent Bob in during the third act. They will serve as the film's 'Quint', originally played in the Steven Spielberg classic by Robert Shaw. And the pair will be fighting off a Moose instead of a shark. About the bonkers way of letting Silent Bob float into heaven, Kevin Smith had this to say.

I was talking to Jay [Mewes] about Moose Jaws and I'm like, 'I'm thinking about bringing us in as the Captain Quint character'. And he goes, 'Yeah, but Quint gets killed!' I was like, 'One of us has to get eaten'. And he was like, 'You. Not me'. I was like, 'Why?' And he was like, 'Because I wanna be in other movies!' Fair enough, dude. So, rather than let [Silent Bob] go out with dignity, he'll be eaten by a fucking moose."

The death of Silent Bob will be a big deal for longtime fans. The character has appeared in six Kevin Smith films, with his last live appearance being in 2006's Clerks II, which was nearly a decade ago. The character did return in 2014 for Jay and Silent Bob's Super Groovy Cartoon Movie. And Kevin Smith also voiced the character in the short-lived animated Clerks TV series and had a cameo in-character as Silent Bob in Scream 3. It's suspected that Silent Bob will return in the sequel MallBrats, which shoots early next year, before Moose Jaws gets underway.

It was always assumed that Silent Bob would play a big part in Clerks III, but it appears that this trilogy ending sequel will happen after Moose Jaws. Though, the timeline of the story might happen before. Its also possible that Silent Bob could come back as a ghost in Clerks III, as the Askewniverse has played with fantasy elements in the past, especially in the 1999 outing Dogma, where Jay and Bob helped fight a war between heaven and hell.

With Silent Bob playing the Quint role, we're sure to get one last epic monologue scene from Kevin Smith that line's up with Robert Shaw's Indianapolis speech. Silent Bob has usually been given at least one chance to speak in each of his movies. So he'll probably go out in grand style. What do you think about the death of Silent Bob? Is it long overdue, or do you hate to see the tubby bastard go? And seriously, what will Jay do without him?
