How closely Sony’s Shared Spider-Man Universe will resemble the MCU largely remains to be seen, but Morbius star Jared Leto is hoping to eventually see several crossovers between the various villains and antiheroes. The actor, who will soon be transformed into a vampire in the upcoming Morbius, would particularly love to see his Marvel character and Tom Hardy’s Venom come face-to-face on the big screen, believing that it “would make a lot of sense.”

"Besides Robert Downey, Iron Man, there are so many people that that would be fantastic, but of course, Venom would be would make a lot of sense. That would be fun."

And make a lot of sense it surely would, with Leto’s Michael Morbius even making mention of Venom in one of the many trailers that have been released for Morbius. Speaking with ScreenRant, Leto also name drops a certain Iron Man, revealing that Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark is another character who he would love to meet on screen. Sadly, with Stark now being dead, it’s much more likely that the Morbius/Venom crossover will happen first.

It is surely only a matter of time before Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius and Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock do battle before inevitably becoming friends. As is so often the way. The two characters are both part of Sony’s Shared Universe, which will also include the likes of Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. While Venom has so far shown up in the MCU during a post-credits scene at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Sony Spider-Man Universe has remained relatively standalone. This is all set to change with Morbius though, with the movie not only featuring clues hinting at the MCU and Venom, but also The Amazing Spider-Man franchise as well.

Morbius will even feature the return of Michael Keaton as Spider-Man: Homecoming villain Adrian Toomes AKA The Vulture, leading many to believe that the Jared Leto-led movie will either see all the shared universes come together in some potentially confusing ball of multiversal madness, or that Morbius will set up a Sinister Six movie. Perhaps even both.

Morbius will introduce one of Marvel's most compelling and conflicted characters as Academy Award winner Jared Leto is transformed into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease, transforming the good doctor into a conflicted monster.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa and written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, Morbius stars Jared Leto as Michael Morbius alongside Matt Smith as Morbius’ childhood friend Milo; Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Morbius’ fiancee; Jared Harris as Nicholas, Morbious’ mentor; and Al Madrigal and Tyrese Gibson as a pair of FBI agents on the hunt for the vampire menace. Morbius is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 1, 2022, following a series of delays and setbacks.
