The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou: Indie writer-director Wes Anderson has found a new vehicle to display his quirky ways to moviegoers around the country. This time, he'll need a wetsuit.
According to Filmjerk.com, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou stars Bill Murray and Owen Wilson and revolves around a famed oceanographer and his son as they brave the ocean, with the father's ragtag crew, in search of adventure and excitement.
Wilson has starred in all of Anderson's films (Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums), as he is in this film, but he is not returning in another capacity. This film will be the first that Wilson has not co-written the screenplay with Anderson. The writing duo snagged a Best Original Screenplay nomination in 2002 for The Royal Tenenbaums. Anderson does have a new collaborator on this screenplay, however, in fellow indie filmmaker Noah Baumbach (Kicking and Screaming).
The film is currently in pre-production, with principal photography set to begin at Rome's Cinecitta Studios in August with distributor Disney aiming for a release in the fall of 2004.
