Pre-production might be chugging along on Deadpool 3, but Morena Baccarin is still waiting to find out whether or not she's involved. In 2016, Baccarin appeared in the original Deadpool movie alongside Ryan Reynolds. She would later reprise her role as Vanessa Carlysle in the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2. At this time, only Reynolds is confirmed for the cast of Deadpool 3, leaving it unclear if Baccarin will be back as Vanessa in the sequel.

Per The Direct, Baccarin was present at DragonCon Atlanta when she touched on the current status of Deadpool 3. She says that she still has "no idea" if she will be back as Vanessa, noting that the call for a return still has yet to come in, but she'd definitely be on board if she gets the offer. As Baccarin puts it:

"You know, from your lips to God's ears, I have no idea. They're writing the script right now. I'm usually the last to find out anything. I'm not even... I wish I had information I could give you but I really don't. But it'd be great."

Really, this just goes to show how slow progress has been on the film. Baccarin has been getting asked about a potential return for years, at one point addressing the situation in 2020. At that time, Baccarin similarly said that the screenplay had yet to be finished, and just like now, she's still waiting patiently for someone involved to give her a call. As Baccarin said back then:

"I have no idea. Apparently, they're still writing it. I genuinely don't know. I have not been asked, or approached. There's been no conversations yet, so I'm waiting with bated breath."

More recently, Baccarin said in March that she still hasn't "gotten that phone call yet." However, since then, the gears have been turning a bit when it comes to that slow-moving scriptwriting process, so maybe the wait won't be too much longer. In July, co-writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick provided an update and said that Disney has been very supportive of their current vision for the sequel. Marvel head Kevin Feige also said soon after that the film will be a "big swing."

"We want to make it great," Reese also told The Playlist over the summer. "We're in the laboratory working on it with Ryan Reynolds all the time, and we're very much entertaining ourselves. So, hopefully, that translates and ultimately will entertain the world. But you know, it's a marriage between Fox and Disney and it's two different universes and it's not easy. But it's also a wonderful challenge and, you know, high-class problems to be able to merge those, those worlds. So, we're, we're enjoying it."

Deadpool 3 does not yet have an official premiere date.
