Morgan Creek has acquired the script for Our Lady of the Ballpark from the screenwriting team of Ron Shelton and John Norville, with Shelton expecting to direct the film. Variety reports that the comedy revolves around an egotistical New York Yankees pitcher whose career is on the way down. In an attempt to get back on top, he plays in the corrupt Mexican Baseball League.

The film is anticipated to start shooting later this year.

Ron Shelton played baseball for five seasons in the Baltimore Orioles farm system. He wrote and directed the sports-oriented films Bull Durham, White Men Can't Jump, and Tin Cup, which he co-wrote with John Norville. Most recently, Shelton wrote the screenplay for Bad Boys II.
