What if robots watched movies? Two of the world's most advanced robots, magicLab's EDI (Electronic Deceptive Intelligence) and the University of Pisa's FACE (Facial Automation for Conveying Emotions), viewed the trailer for Morgan. Watch what happened next in the video below. It's actually pretty creepy.

In Morgan, A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent "human," who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger. And as you can see, these robots are just as enthralled with the story as advanced audiences have been.

You can take a closer look at the full trailer by itself if you missed that when it launched earlier this summer. Morgan marks the feature directorial debut of Luke Scott, celebrated commercial director and son of legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott. Also starring in the movie is Paul Giamatti. Mara and Giamatti are joined by a stellar ensemble cast that includes Anya Taylor-Joy, Toby Jones, Rose Leslie, Boyd Holbrook, Michelle Yeoh and Jennifer Jason Leigh in her first role since this past December's The Hateful Eight. Luke Scott had this to say about the story.

"What Morgan really alludes to is human beings becoming, in a sense, the creator. Not in a traditional religious sense, but an idea that we have the capabilities to become our own creator. And what I suspect could happen - we've seen it in all these movies, whether it's Frankenstein or Metropolis - it's the creation of a being that is greater than the creator. That is fascinating to me, and it definitely feels like a next stage of evolution in the real world."

Jake Scott is directing from a script by Seth Owens, which landed on The Black List as one of the top unproduced screenplays in 2014. The director's father Ridley Scott is serving as a produce with his Scott Free Productions partners Michael Schaefer and Elishia Holmes. Aside from directing commercials, Luke Scott directed a short film entitled Loom, and he served as the second unit director on his father Ridley Scott's 2014 epic Exodus: Gods and Kings. The filmmaker is actually the third of Ridley Scott's children to pursue a career in directing, following his daughter Jordan Scott (Cracks), and his son Jake Scott (Welcome to the Rileys).

20th Century Fox's Morgan goes up against the Disney drama The Light Between the Oceans and Relativity's thriller Solace when it hits theaters on September 2, which falls on Labor Day weekend. While the Labor Day holiday doesn't always mean big business, this thriller could cause an unexpected surge at the box office. Check it out as these robots become engrossed by the trailer.
