The filmmaker mink has recently signed on to direct the third Mortal Kombat movie. According to Moviehole, though Drew McWeeny and Scott Swan wrote the original draft of the script, the writing has been handled by the producers and their writers at Threshold Studios in conjunction with Midway games.

The third Mortal Kombat motion picture has not yet been cast and there's been no word on whether Christopher Lambert will return as Rayden. Filming might be shot in Louisiana, though nothing at this time has been scheduled.

The third Mortal Kombat film is currently in pre-production.
