/mr-holmes-movie-clip/Early this week, we got to see the first clip from Mr. Holmes, which finds an aging Sherlock recounting his true story to a young boy. Now the official one-sheet has been released, which finds Ian McKellen standing in the shadow of this once-famous sleuth and his legacy. Meet the 'man behind the myth' as he prepares for his final case this summer.

Mr. Holmes is based on the novel "A Slight Trick of the Mind" by Mitch Cullin, and was adapted for the screen by Jeffrey Hatcher. The story begins in 1947 when an aging Holmes returns from Japan, where, in search of a plant with powerful restorative qualities, he has witnessed the devastation of nuclear warfare. Now in his remote seaside farmhouse Holmes faces the end of his days tending to his bees with only the company of his housekeeper (Linney) and her young son, Roger.

Grappling with the diminishing powers of his mind, Holmes comes to rely upon the boy as he revisits an unsolved case which forced him into retirement, and searches for answers to the mysteries of life and love before it's too late. Directed by Bill Condon, the film serves as a reunion between him and Ian McKellen after 1998's Gods and Monsters. Take a look at the aging Sherlock Holmes as he sets out for his greatest adventure yet:
