Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige expressed interest in bringing Ms. Marvel to the Marvel Cinematic Universe last year. At the time, the studio was hard at work on getting Captain Marvel finished, but Feige said there were definite plans to do something with the Pakistani-American superhero, aka Kamala Khan. Now, Mindy Kaling has revealed that she has been in talks with the studio about ideas of getting Khan's story told, which is pretty exciting news for fans who have been waiting for an official update.

Back when Kevin Feige first made the comments about Ms. Marvel coming to the MCU, he noted Captain Marvel had to be introduced first and then they would go back and look at bringing Kamala Khan's story to the screen. It looks like the idea is still in development as Mindy Kaling admits to talking with the studio. She had this to say about some possible involvement in the Ms. Marvel project.

"I think the people I've spoken to at Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they're trying to figure out what to do with it, and, I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her. They really seemed interested, and I think they will probably do something. Now that there's like this streaming service with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much excitement there is."

Mindy Kaling expressed immediate interest when the Ms. Marvel news dropped last year. Riz Ahmed tweeted about the project to Marvel Studios and mentioned himself, Kaling, and Kumail Nanjiani, which is when Kaling professed her love for the character. She said, "I am obsessed with this comic book, I've read them all. I love Kamala Khan." As for who could play the character on the big screen, Kaling says, "You know, I feel like it might need to be an unknown," shooting down rumors she might play Khan.

Marvel Studios has been working on diversifying their projects over the years, which started in a big way with last year's Black Panther and continued with this year's Captain Marvel. Kevin Feige is expected to make a few big announcements this summer in regard to the MCU's mysterious Phase 4, but it looks like The Eternals is going to be one of them, possibly with an openly gay superhero. Additionally, a Black Panther sequel is being planned and the Shang-Chi movie is also in development. The studio has been very vocal about representation over the past few years.

The future is looking bright for Ms. Marvel. Though it is unclear where her story will be told, Mindy Kaling has hinted at the strong possibility of a Disney+ series, which would be a treat for fans. Whatever the case may be, it sounds like everything is in the very early stages of development and means more news is on the way.
