MTV has greenlighted a third season of the unscripted show, The Hills, starring Lauren Conrad, with a 10-episode order. It's set to debut in the summer, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The news comes after the second-season finale of The Hills, which is currrently MTV's top-rated show, at 10 p.m. Monday. Following the success of the live "The Hills After Show" on Monday night, MTV is planning to schedule another live telecast after the third-season finale.

"The success of The Hills' second season illustrates our strategy to engage viewers across all screens and to give fans the ability to stay connected to the cast and their stories when they want and where they want," MTV president of entertainment and programming Lois Curren said. "The approach we've taken with The Hills reaffirms that our audience is embracing the touchpoints we've created for them to stay immersed in the shows they love."

The Hills, which was spun off of MTV's Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County, centers on Conrad, who works as an intern at Teen Vogue while attending the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles, and her group of friends. It was created by Adam DiVello, who executive produces with Tony DiSanto, Liz Gateley and Sean Travis.
