MTV will be developing a new slate of films.

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, the company is looking make some Ferris Bueller's Day Off-styled films that will first air on MTV. They will "be partly financed by a separate DVD release; MTV would supervise the release of the pics under an as-yet-unnamed banner."

In fact, should the movies do well either on TV or DVD (or both), they might even open theatrically.

Heading up this project will be MTV Enterprises Executive Vice President, Jeff Yapp, and head of MTV Programming, Tony DiSanto.

In addition to this, "Tony Krantz's Flame Ventures, which is in a joint venture for the pics with MTV, will produce."
