Universal has finally gotten its long-talked about Monsters Universe off the ground, with the first official movie in the series shooting right now. We've seen some set photos from The Mummy reboot already. But today we get our first official look thanks to one of the stars of the movie, newcomer Annabelle Wallis. She shared a photo of her cast mates as they brave the harsh desert of Africa. She says this on Twitter.

This photo is the first time we've seen the main cast united on set. It features Annabelle Wallis standing next to headliner Tom Cruise. We also get to see Courtney B. Vance and comedic relief Jake Johnson decked out in their official Mummy hunting costumes. The one actor we haven't seen yet is Sofia Boutella. She plays the main monster, marking the first time ever in The Mummy's long and storied Hollywood history that this bandaged-wrapped revenge seeking ghoul has been played by a female.

The Mummy reboot has already shoot for an extensive four month period, with production kicking off in London earlier this year. It was reportedly earlier in the week that production had wrapped on the film, but it appears that was only on the UK portion of this thriller, as everyone heads to Namibia, Africa. Tom Cruise reportedly filmed a number of high-intensity action scenes just before moving onto this desert landscape.

The Mummy will shoot in Africa for two more weeks before calling an official wrap. These scenes reportedly include the introduction of Sofia Boutella's Mummy Queen. And it's possible that a good portion of the movie's climax will also be shot over the course of the next several days. It appears that both Courtney B. Vance and Jake Johnson are part of a military operation, as has long been rumored.

In The Mummy, Tom Cruise leads a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilization: The Mummy. Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.

From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters. The Mummy is in theaters June 9, 2017.
