Nothing says Nostalgia like Jim Henson's fun-loving character creations, The Muppets. Thankfully all of Henson's adoring fans will soon get to see his vision live on through the upcoming Disney + offering, The Muppets Mayhem.Nearly five decades ago, Jim Henson, a passionate and talented puppeteer, put his skill and imagination to work to present the world with some of the most unforgettable characters in The Muppet Show. Fresh from his experience as a producer on Sesame Street, Henson prepared to show the world what he had to offer. The result was sustainable magic that has lasted for decades. Although he left the world in 1990, his legacy persists. And soon, lovers of all things Muppets will meet their friends once again. In 1976, Henson introduced Generation X to some of the Muppet's characters, Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Ms. Piggy. And weekly, kids and adults alike were entertained by the comedic bear (Fozzie), a producer frog (Kermit), an amorous pig with aspirations of stardom (Ms. Piggy), and an adventurous Gonzo. The Muppet Show was somehow different from other shows of the time. The interaction of the Muppets and an interchangeable cast of stars made the show an explosive success. As it is now well known, Henson's success in the world of television spurred a franchise of movies, the first airing in 1979. As the Muppet franchise grew, so did the characters many came to love. The addition of the rock band The Electric Mayhem, which also serves as the focus of the upcoming series The Muppets Mayhem, is perhaps one of the most memorable additions. Here is everything that we know.

Several stories have been told about the Muppets, from the characters moving to Hollywood to pursue their dreams in The Muppet Movie (1979) to their international foray in Muppets Most Wanted (2014). Unbelievably there remain many more stories to tell. The Muppets Mayhem aims to tell one of those stories. Muppet Mayhem, the upcoming release, is a series that will center around The Electric Mayhem band and their pursuit of a dream.

In this film, as IGN notes:

"The Electric Mayhem Band swaps the stage for the studio to record their first-ever album with the support of young music executive named Nora."

Hopefully, by the show's end, fans will see what an Electric Mayhem Band project looks like. It will be something to behold if it is like its eclectic members.

Those familiar with the Electric Mayhem Band know that Dr. Teeth is the leader. However, the beloved Animal, the drummer, has often stolen the show. But, of course, a band is not a band without a full sound undergirded by guitarists and other instrumentalists. The other instrumentalists in the Electric Mayhem Band include Zoot, Lips, Janice, and Floyd. However, it is more than their musical genius which contributes to the undeniable chemistry that has made them a band that transcends age.

Quite logically, there is a certain charisma and spark which draws intrigue to the Muppets — that unique brand of magic results from the talented human personas behind the characters. Therefore, the recognition of those voices is essential. As for The Muppets Mayhem, the human cast that will breathe life into the musical crew include; Dave Goelz (Zoot), David Rudman (Janice), Peter Linz (Lips), Matt Vogel (Sgt. Floyd Pepper), Bill Barretta (Dr. Teeth), and Eric Jacobson as Animal. And based on what is known, the human counterpart who will help the band realize their dreams is Lilly Singh.

This new story is a creative project of Adam F. Goldberg, the writer and producer of ABC fan favorite The Goldbergs. Given his work, it's not hard to see the draw to such a project. His comedic chops and artful storytelling speak for themselves. However, while it may surprise some, the Muppets is a passion project of Goldberg and co-creators Bill Barretta and Jeff York. According to CBR, the president of ABC Signature, Jonnie Davis, had this to say about the trio:

"Adam F. Goldberg is our resident Muppet enthusiast at Signature and getting to play in the sandbox with Bill, a longtime Muppet performer, as well as these beloved characters was a dream come true for him, Bill, and Jeff."

This fantastic factor makes The Muppets Mayhem a series to watch because, as many will agree, passion is the signature of any great creative work.

Release Date

There is no release date for The Muppets Mayhem. However, according to a March release from Disney Plus Informer, the series was due to begin filming in April, continuing through the summer. Now that summer is rapidly ending, it is only logical to conclude that so is filming for the series.

So perhaps fans will be seeing an announcement soon. Until then, the expectancy continues to grow for this ten-episode series journey for all fans of The Muppets and the iconic rock band Electric Mayhem.
