ABC has set a Tuesday, Septmeber 22 release date for the highly-anticipated series The Muppets. The new show will kick off ABC's Tuesday night block at 8 PM ET, followed by the second-year comedy series Fresh Off the Boat at 8:30 PM ET, and the Dancing with the Stars results show at 9 PM ET. Marvel's Agent Carter will join the Tuesday night lineup on September 29 at 9 PM ET, along with Beyond the Tank at 10 PM ET.

The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets' personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for "kids" of all ages. Back in April, we reported that the new Muppets show will be set backstage at a late-night talk show, but that has yet to be confirmed. The first photo and Muppets TV Show trailer released last month haven't revealed too much about the show at this point, but hopefully we'll learn much more before the fall premiere.

Bill Prady and Bob Kushell are co-writers and executive producers. Randall Einhorn, Bill Barretta, Debbie McClellan and Kyle Laughlin are also executive producers. The Muppets is produced by ABC Studios and The Muppets Studio. Are you glad The Muppets are coming back to the small screen where they belong? Chime in with your thoughts below.
