Paul W.S. Anderson's remake of Roger Corman's cult classic Death Race 2000 is about to sign on yet another actress. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Natalie Martinez is in negotiations to star alongside Jason Statham in the reworked thriller.

The film revolves around a future America, where prison inmates are forced to participate in a deadly car race. In the race, hit-and-run victims tally up winning points for the condemned drivers. Statham is playing crowd favorite Frankenstein, a character originated by David Carradine.

Martinez is gearing up to play Case, a woman assigned to be Statham's navigator. She ends up assisting him in his escape from the prison. Joan Allen, Ian McShane and Tyrese Gibson have also recently joined the cast.

Shooting is scheduled to start this month in Montreal.
