NBC has taken Celebrity Cooking Showdown off its primetime menu. The reality series was originally scheduled to run five consecutive nights beginning April 17, but the peacock shelved Showdown on Thursday with two servings still to go.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the quick hook comes after three nights of abysmal ratings, averaging a measly 1.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Tuesday opposite American Idol was particularly pathetic, with NBC bottoming out with a 1.1 rating and 3 share in the 9 p.m. hour. NBC is replacing Showdown with repeats of Will & Grace and My Name Is Earl on Thursday and Deal or No Deal on Friday. The fourth episode of Showdown will air on NBC.com.
