NBC has recently ordered six episodes of the Australian adapted sitcom Kath & Kim to series. According to Variety, the network picked up the comedy sitcom without even viewing a pilot, believing the show is strong enough to move straight to series without a trial. They also wanting to kept pilot production costs down.
Kath & Kim will star Molly Shannon as Kath, a forty something divorcee, and Selma Blair as her self-absorbed daughter Kim. Reveille and Universal Media Studios are behind Kath & Kim, which will be executive produced and written by Michelle Nader.
Production for Kath & Kim is scheduled to start once the writers strike is over.
