An acclaimed director is taking on a Paul Murray novel for his next film project. Variety is reporting that Neil Jordan will write and direct a film adaptation of Skippy Dies.

Jordan will direct from his own script, adapted from the Paul Murray novel, which is set in an Ireland school and centers on Ruprecht, a math genius who also dabbles in playing the French Horn and Skippy, his roommate, whose mother is dying of cancer and who is also being abused by the gym teacher. When Skippy mysteriously dies, it leads Ruprecht to take on a series of experiments to try and contact his friend beyond the grave.

A production schedule has not been released for the film, as of yet, and we'll be sure to keep you posted with any further casting news on this new Neil Jordan film as soon as we have more information.
