Are Amazon and Netflix about to team up?

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, it seems that Netflix and Amazon are in talks about having the online DVD renter sell subscriptions to Amazon's legions of customers.

"Amazon has a desirable customer base that we would love to market to...it's an e-commerce consumer," stated Neil Hunt, Netflix Chief Product Officer, at the Reuters Media Summit. "It's a consumer who would be ideal for us. Some kind of arrangement there would be attractive."

This year Amazon launched "a movie download service and a U.K. online movie rental service, and once was rumored to be considering opening a U.S. DVD rental service."
