Gal Gadot, Alia Bhatt, Jamie Dornan, and Matthias Schweighöfer take center stage in a series of brand-new character posters for the upcoming Netflix action outing, Heart of Stone. Released courtesy of the streaming giant, the posters offer another look at the main cast of characters that will inhabit Heart of Stone, which follows the Wonder Woman star as she delves into the dangerous world of espionage in order to save the world from a mysterious weapon. Check out the new posters for Heart of Stone below.

Gal Gadot has high hopes for Heart of Stone, with the Red Notice star hoping that the movie will launch a new, James Bond-esque action franchise. “I realized that there was an audience for a female action protagonist,” Gadot said recently. “I grew up watching Bond, and Mission, and Bourne. I wanted to create a really strong, female-driven action movie that is for everybody, not a male story that’s been done many times already.”

Netflix recently revealed another image and some footage of Gal Gadot as CIA Agent Rachel Stone, the lead of the upcoming spy thriller Heart of Stone. Alongside the new image, the streaming service also confirmed a release date for Heart of Stone, with the action outing due to debut on Aug. 11, 2023.

“She’s the only one standing between world peace and global destruction,” Netflix declares alongside an image of Gadot in the midst of what’s sure to be one of many major action sequences. The release date reveal for Heart of Stone comes as part of #NetflixSaveTheDates, with the platform now confirming the release dates for several of its high-profile movies across 2023.

Specific plot details for Heart of Stone are being kept under lock and key at present, but it has been revealed that Gadot will star as Rachel Stone, a CIA agent and the only person standing between her powerful, global, peace-keeping organization and the loss of its most valuable — and dangerous — asset. You can see a little more from Heart of Stone courtesy of Netflix’s 2023 slate announcement below.

Directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders, The Aeronauts) from a screenplay by Greg Rucka (The Old Guard) and Allison Schroeder (Hidden Figures) and with a story by Rucka, Heart of Stone will star a supporting cast that includes the likes of Jamie Dornan (The Fall, Fifty Shades of Grey), Alia Bhatt (Highway), Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Death on the Nile), Matthias Schweighöfer (Army of the Dead), Jing Lusi (Crazy Rich Asians), Paul Ready (The Terror), Jon Kortajarena (A Single Man), Matteo Cicconi, and Angela Esposito.

The Skydance spy thriller Heart of Stone is all set to be led by Wonder Woman 1984 and Red Notice star Gal Gadot. The project was officially picked up by Netflix last year, with the streaming giant emerging victorious following a competitive auction for the worldwide rights. Heart of Stone is being planned as the first installment in a franchise. A franchise that Netflix reportedly hopes will become a huge success akin to the likes of James Bond and Mission: Impossible, all centered around Gadot’s intrepid CIA Agent.

Heart of Stone is just one of several action movies set to debut on Netflix in 2023. Marvel actor Chris Hemsworth will return as the unstoppable black ops mercenary Tyler Rake in the action sequel Extraction 2, which has now been given a release date of Jun. 16, 2023. Director David Fincher’s neo-noir action thriller The Killer is also due to debut on Netflix on Nov. 10, with Jennifer Lopez set to lead her action outing as an ex-assassin in The Mother, which will land on the platform on May 2, 2023.

Heart of Stone is scheduled to be released on Aug. 11, 2023, by Netflix.
