Entitled Splatter, the Webisodes were conceived and produced by Mr. Corman, co-produced by Julie Corman (Box Car Bertha, The Westing Game), directed by horror auteur Joe Dante (Gremlins, The Howling) and star Corey Feldman (The Lost Boys, Stand By Me) in the title role of rocker Johnny Splatter. The first episode of Splatter will launch on October 29, with the second installment scheduled for November 6 and the concluding episode slated for November 13 - yes, Friday the 13th.
While anyone in America can instantly watch Splatter online on a computer starting on October 29, Netflix members on an unlimited plan will be able to instantly watch Splatter on their TVs via a range of Netflix ready devices at the conclusion of the series. Those devices include Netflix ready Blu-ray disc players and new Internet TVs from LG Electronics; Blu-ray disc players from Samsung; the Roku digital video player; Microsoft's Xbox 360 game console; and TiVo digital video recorders.
Splatter is the haunting tale of rock-and-roll legend Johnny Splatter, a musical genius who accumulated as many hit records as he did enemies on his climb up the fame ladder. His sudden death, ruled a suicide, brings a small circle of professional parasites and hangers-on to his Hollywood Hills mansion for the reading of his last will and testament. But as his "frenemies" come to pick the bones clean, Johnny has returned for a deadly encore long after what they thought was his final curtain.
"When Netflix approached me with this unique idea, I was truly intrigued about creating something that left the ending up to the audience," said Corman. "Making content for the web is a natural progression for me, but Splatter is a rare opportunity to involve my horror fans who really love being a part of the process."
