Mindy Kaling’s series on Netflix is about to drop its season 3 premiere later this summer and has already been renewed for a fourth and final season.

In a tweet posted Tuesday, Kaling and her co-creator Lang Fisher announced that Netflix renewed Never Have I Ever for a fourth and final season. The tweet also said that the third season is dropping later this summer.

“Season 3 of Never Have I Ever is gonna drop this summer!” Kaling’s post read. “Plus we’ve just been renewed for a fourth and final season, which we are absolutely thrilled about.”

The first season did very well on the streaming service, with 40 million households watching in its first four weeks, Deadline reports. Critics also gave newcomer Maitreyi Ramakrishnan high praises. The lead also signed up to star in Netflix film The Netherfield Girls. Later this month, she will voice the role of Priya in the highly anticipated Turning Red from Pixar and lends her voice as Zipp Storm in the My Little Pony animated series.

Where Will Season 3 Pick Up?

Season 2 was a series of so-called bad decisions made by Devi. However, we did see Devi and Paxton finally get together. The season 2 finale also hinted that Ben is not too happy with Devi and Paxton settling down, which means things could get messy for him and Aneesa in season 3. The finale also saw Kamala bailing on her marriage prospects. Season 3 will dive deeper into the new blossoming relationship between Devi and Paxton. The question of if they are in love or if they should stay friends will most likely be answered. Of course, Devi’s family will remain a large part of the show and influence the decisions Devi makes. We also have Devi’s mom slowly going out into the dating world again, which may bring in new characters as well.

Erin Underhill, President of Universal Television, had this to say about the upcoming season and the final season coming in the future:

“Four seasons of Never Have I Ever is truly exciting and a little bittersweet because, as a loyal fan, I’d love Devi’s journey to go on forever. But just like high school, all great things must come to an end. A big shout out to our fearless Cricket Queens, Mindy and Lang, and our exceptional cast and crew, who have authentically captured the emotional rollercoaster ride that defines our teenage years. We can’t wait to experience all of the messiness, the LOLs and the tears that will surely unfold in Devi’s senior year.”

Most likely, the final season of Never Have I Ever will make its Netflix debut sometime in 2023. Of course, no official announcement has been made on that just yet. However, we have season 3 to look forward to this summer.
