While there are still currently no plans for The CW's Arrow to intersect with Warner Bros.' growing DC Comics movie universe, the series is introducing the daughter of one famous movie character next week. We reported in November that Spartacus star Katrina Law has signed on to play Nyssa al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul (portrayed by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins) and half-sister of Talia al Ghul (played by Marion Cotillard in The Dark Knight Rises). Before Nyssa debuts during next week's episode, "Heir to the Demon", airing Wednesday, February 5 at 8 PM ET, we have the first photos of the character, shown alongside Arrow (Stephen Amell) and The Black Canary (Caity Lotz). Check out these new images, then read on for more details regarding the character from executive producer Andrew Kreisberg.

In the DC Comic books, Nyssa became the co-leader of the League of Assassins with her half-sister Talia, after Batman thwarted her attempt to kill Superman. Our report from November revealed that Nyssa comes to Starling City in search of The Black Canary, to try and lure her back into this shadowy organization. When The Black Canary doesn't agree to come with her, Nyssa kidnaps someone close to her.

When asked about how the show's Nyssa compares to her portrayal in the comic books, Andrew Kreisberg had this to say, revealing that Katrina Law initially auditioned for the role of Shado.

"Our Nyssa certainly has shades of Talia. Katrina auditioned for Shado and it actually came down to Katrina and Celina (Jade) and honestly, part of it was just that because we knew she'd have scenes with Slade [played by Manu Bennett], and it just felt like a Spartacus overkill. But she's somebody that we've been a fan of. When this part came up, we saw a lot of people for it, but she certainly is exotic and beautiful and smart and our stunt guys are over the moon, because she can do a lot of her own stunts. (She is) the next wave of the League of Assasins that comes to Starling City. But she has some interesting secrets as well."
