Hawkeye episode 3 ended on a massive cliffhanger and also teased the return of Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) from Netflix’s Marvel universe. But there is another character whose arrival fans are looking forward to – Yelena Belova. Florence Pugh stole the show in Black Widow, playing Natasha Romanoff’s younger sister, Yelena Belova. While both critics and fans lauded Scarlett Johansson’s performance as the titular assassin, it was Florence Pugh who really struck a chord with the audience.

When Marvel announced last December that Pugh will reprise her role as Yelena Belova in the Disney+ series, Hawkeye, fans assumed she would play an ally, helping Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) fight bad guys. But the Black Widow post-credit scene took everyone by surprise. The post-credit scene of Black Widow saw Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) pit Yelena against Clint Barton/Hawkeye, leading her to believe he was responsible for the death of her sister. It’s unlikely we will see her as a full-blown antagonist. But it will be exciting to see Yelena fight Hawkeye and eventually become friends after learning that he didn’t kill Natasha.

Three episodes in, and Yelena still hasn’t appeared, but that is about to change. A new Hawkeye promo has teased that the biggest surprises are yet to come, including the arrival of Yelena Belova and possibly Kingpin in the next episode. You can check out the clip below.

We see towards the end, as Kate gasps, "Who’s that?" after the appearance of a mysterious masked figure. While it looks a lot like Spider-Man’s stealth suit from Spider-Man: Far From Home, the eyes give it away that this character is indeed Yelena, wearing a comic-accurate costume. Yelena wears an all-black suit with green spider-like eyes. However, her new suit in Hawkeye covers her head completely, giving the impression she is trying to protect her identity. The green goggles she’s wearing are most likely for night vision. With only three days left till Hawkeye episode 4 premieres on Disney+, we’ll soon find out the mystery behind Yelena’s new look.

Speaking of surprises, it’s all but confirmed that Vincent D’Onofrio, will show up in Hawkeye as Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. The scene from episode 3, featuring a man laughing as he strokes a young Maya Lopez’s cheek, had all the fans screaming in excitement. D’Onofrio has been talking about Hawkeye for almost a year, and several rumors have also teased his involvement in the show. He is also rumored to have a more menacing and bulkier comic-accurate look.

Hawkeye follows Clint Barton as he takes a young protégé, Kate Bishop, under his wing while dealing with enemies from his past. Hawkeye stars Jeremy Renner as the titular character, with Hailee Steinfeld playing Kate Bishop. Other cast members include Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Florence Pugh, and Fra Fee. This light-hearted Christmas-themed show from Marvel is definitely a breath of fresh air after the world-ending chaos we’ve been watching in the recent movies. That being said, don’t forget to check out the next episode of Hawkeye, premiering on December 8.
