New Line and HBO specialty film label Picturehouse has acquired domestic rights to La Vie En Rose, a biopic of French nightclub singer Edith Piaf, reports Variety.

The film follows Piaf's rise from the slums of Paris to the limelight of New York while she struggled with her passionate romances and relationships with some of the greatest names of the 1940s and '50s.

La Vie En Rose stars Marion Cotillard (A Very Long Engagement) as Piaf, and Gerard Depardieu as Louis Leplee. Oliver Dahan wrote the screenplay and directed the film.
