According to Variety, New Line's riding with Paper Wings, snapping up Les Bohem's spec set in the worlds of rodeo and country music and setting it up with newly minted producer Marty Bowen.
The story centers on a young rodeo champion struggling between his career and his romance with an up-and-coming country singer. Bohem and Bowen developed the story while meeting last June at the Nashville Screenwriters Conference, which Bohem and Karen Murphy organize annually.
Bohem's credits include The Alamo on the bigscreen and Steven Spielberg's 2002 sci-fi miniseries "Taken," for which he also penned several songs. He's also writing for Spielberg's Nine Lives, which Sci Fi Channel recently greenlit.
