According to Variety, New Line has taken aim at R5, purchasing tyro scribe Jango Sircus' spec script about dueling snipers and setting it up with BenderSpink partners Chris Bender and J.C. Spink along with Justin Silvera.

The story centers on the human chess match played out on Los Angeles rooftops, triggered by a mysterious series of shootings that prompt the L.A. expert to focus his suspicions on a South African rival long presumed dead.

New Line-based Benderspink produced box office leader Monster-in-Law for the studio. The shingle is readying David Cronenberg's "History of Violence," which New Line just premiered at Cannes; and "Red Eye" for DreamWorks.
