One of the most exciting parts of Scream VI is the return of Hayden Panettiere as Kirby. The character has not been seen since the bloody events of Scream 4 back in 2011, but Panettiere has offered some insight into where the sequel finds the survivor all these years later.

"She's come a long way. What happened to her has obviously impacted her life, and it sends her in a certain direction, but she's still the same old Kirby at the heart of it. She's just a little older, a little wiser, but just as spitfire-y, and snarky, and all that good stuff."

The actress has also offered some insight into what it was like being an old guard of the Scream franchise as well as a new recruit to the current group of potential victims.

"Yeah, I felt a little left out. It's true. I did feel a little like I had to find my way back into the new group because that crew had done the prior film. But they were all so welcoming. It was interesting, they made me part of their family that I had already been a part of. [Laughs] So it was like an estranged aunt came back into the fold!"

Scream VI will see several cast members from the recent reboot reprise their roles, including Melissa Barrera as Sam Carpenter, Jenna Ortega as Tara Carpenter, Mason Gooding as Chad Meeks-Martin, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy Meeks-Martin. The rest of the supporting cast includes the likes of Dermot Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Samara Weaving, Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Devyn Nekoda, Liana Liberato, and Josh Segarra.

Scream VI is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 10, 2023.
