Miles Morales returns to the big screen this week as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the long-awaited sequel to the 2018 animated film that became one of the greatest jewels of superhero cinema. However, fans are looking forward to the character's live-action debut, and it might be closer than they imagine.

Promoting the film, the production team behind the movie was interviewed by Variety on the red carpet, where they teased details about the future of the entire Spidey franchise. In the talk, Amy Pascal responded, “You'll see all of it. It's all happening," when asked if Morales will get his chance to don the live-action spider-hero suit. The question was also directed at the future Spider-Woman movie, which was also rumored to be in development.

Miles Morales was first introduced in 2011 in Ultimate Fallout #4, created by Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, who drew inspiration from former President Barack Obama, Donald Glover, and the popular series Community. Miles appears after the death of Peter Parker, taking up the mantle as the hero of New York and one of the most popular characters in Marvel Comics from the past couple of years.

In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Miles has already learned to use his powers and managed to save his reality after the events of the first film, but he continues to have trouble dealing with his heroic identity and life as a teenager. Searching for a place to feel understood, he arrives in the Spider-Verse, a place where Spider-People from different realities meet.

However, the leader, Miguel O'Hara denies him to be part of the group, since Miles's world is where a dangerous villain is operating to destroy the Multiverse, and they want to destroy it to prevent it. Miles will face everyone in order to save everything he knows, even at the risk of endangering the other realities.

But Miles Morales won't be the only one returning in the future of the franchise. In addition to his live-action movie and the third part of the Spider-Verse Saga, there is still a lot to explore in the world of Spidey.

On the one hand, Tom Holland will wear the Peter Parker suit again after Spider-Man: No Way Home in a fourth film for Marvel Studios. In fact, Variety also asked Pascal about the status of the sequel:

“Are we going to make another movie? Of course, we are. We’re in the process, but the writers strike, nobody is working during the strike. We’re all being supporters and whenever they get themselves together, we’ll get started.”

Additionally, spinoffs focused on other characters will continue to arrive. Tom Hardy will return in Venom 3, Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney will debut in the superhero genre in Madame Web, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson will return to Marvel in Kraven the Hunter.

In addition, Sony Pictures recently teamed up with Amazon Studios to develop a television universe, where other great characters like Silk and Spider-Man Noir will also be able to tell their stories in series form.
