News coming out of this year's ShoWest Festival is that MGM announced plans to add at least 18 films to their 2007 slate. The names of the films will be unveiled at a later date. Chairman and CEO, Harry Sloan, said MGM will become a major player in Hollywood distribution once again.
The company announced earlier this month it was re-entering the distribution side of the business with 12 films in 2006 and 2 next year, most in conjuntion with the Weinstein Company. Their first release will be Lucky Number Slevin, which stars Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Lucy Lui, Sir Ben Kingsley, and Morgan Freeman, hitting theaters April 7th.
