The Purge still has a lot of stories to tell. The Blumhouse horror saga is already working on its next installment, and it seems that it’ll be very different from everything we’ve seen in the franchise so far.

Released in 2013, the first movie presented a dystopian world where once a year and for 12 hours at night, all crimes including murder are permitted in every city in America. With that premise in mind, the franchise then continued to tell different stories building an anthological saga including five movies and a tv series.

In 2021, the fifth installment hit theaters, titled The Forever Purge. At the end of the film, the country is plunged into a terrible crisis, with its entire population ideologically divided, with a large group in favor of establishing The Purge as something permanent.

In an interview with Variety, saga’s creator James DeMonaco shared some interesting details about the next movie:

"It's not completely different than previous movies, but it's a new America that we're entering into. In The Forever Purge, America kind of collapsed, and it's really kind of mapped itself according to different ideologies. The states are based on sexuality, religion, and ideology. So we've broken apart and the state of discord is at its worst. We enter The Purge in that world."

Under this chaotic scenario, there’s no doubt the sixth movie from The Purge saga could be one of the most violent ones, presenting a war between the people supporting The Purge and the ones against it.

After the success of the first film, Blumhouse saw the possibility of building a franchise that rapidly became one of the most popular ones within the horror genre.

The second film arrived just a year after the first one. The Purge: Anarchy follows a man who seeks revenge for the death of his son, but ends up joining a group of people to help him survive the 12 hour duration of The Purge.

The third installment, titled Election Year, focuses on Leo Barnes (Frank Grillo), the head of security for one of the presidential candidates. During the night of The Purge, Leo will have to protect her from a group of purgers looking to kill her, as she wants to eliminate The Purge forever.

In The First Purge, the saga finally travels back in time to tell us about the origins of the terrible process and how the test to start implementing it went.

In 2018, Blumhouse and USA Network the saga came to the small screen with a series that takes place between the events of Anarchy and Election Year. The first season follows a seemingly unconnected group of people during the celebration of The Purge. For its part, the second installment begins during the last moments of one of the bloody nights, and follows the characters dealing with the consequences of The Purge.

Finally, in The Forever Purge, after the end of a new night of crimes, a group of purgers decides to continue with the murders in search of extending The Purge into something permanent.
