Nickelodeon has officially parted ways with Dan Schneider, the man responsible for some of the networks biggest hits over the years. Schneider has been the chief creative force behind the networks live-action programming for two decades, creating Kenan and Kel and iCarly, among many other hit shows. The split comes as Nickelodeon has decided to cancel his series Game Shakers after 63 episodes, with the network saying, "We are proud of the show's success, and our dedicated and talented cast and crew." The fate of his animated series The Adventures of Kid Danger remains to be seen. In any event, Nick and Schneider parting ways has raised some questions.

Why would Nickelodeon, or any network for that matter, part ways with one of their most bankable creative forces? In the initial report from Deadline on the split, it's said that there have been "multiple complaints of abusive behavior against Schneider filed by members of his staff" over the years. This hasn't been addressed by Nickelodeon and none of these alleged complaints have been made public, but if this has been brewing behind the scenes, it would make sense for the parting of ways to take place. However, the network's statement makes it seem as though the split is amicable. Here's the full statement from Nickelodeon.

"Following many conversations together about next directions and future opportunities, Nickelodeon and our long-time creative partner Dan Schneider/Schneider's Bakery have agreed to not extend the current deal. Since several Schneider's Bakery projects are wrapping up, both sides agreed that this is a natural time for Nickelodeon and Schneider's Bakery to pursue other opportunities and projects. Dan and his Schneider's Bakery team have created a string of lasting, groundbreaking hits over the years including iCarly, Drake & Josh, Victorious, Kenan & Kel and the current number-one hit show on Nickelodeon, Henry Danger. We thank Dan and his Schneider's Bakery producers, executives and social media team for their immeasurable contributions to Nickelodeon, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors. And Dan and Schneider's Bakery are proud of the work they did together with Nickelodeon and will always remain big fans of the network."

No one man has helped shape what Nickelodeon is more than Dan Schneider. The man is credited with discovering talents like Ariana Grande, Amanda Bynes, Jamie Lynn Spears and Victoria Justice, who have led some of his shows over the years. However, the treatment of some of these younger stars in his shows has been called into question. Again, no formal complaints or harassment claims have been made, but in the wake of this split, some of that alleged behavior and mistreatment of these stars has been called out.

Specifically, Dan Schneider has tweeted photos of his young stars toes and feet over the years, be it through his account or the accounts for his various shows. A tweet from the Sam and Cat Twitter account from 2013 requested that fans, "write on the bottom of your foot, take a pic and use #SamAndCatSaturday." In 2010, he shared a video of Victoria Justice pouring ketchup all over her feet. These are just several examples that Twitter users have brought back to the surface since this announcement was made.

The report also notes that there were issues of bloated budgets and long production days on Dan Schneider's Nickelodeon shows. However, for now, it appears this is an amicable split and nobody from his shows has publically called his behavior into question and there's no official indication any sort of hidden scandal is the real reason they've parted ways. But still, this decision is worth raising an eyebrow over. You can check out some of Schneider's peculiar tweets for yourself below. This news comes to us courtesy of Deadline.
