Nicolas Cage is looking to extend his recent run of hit movies after joining the cast of A24 comedy, Dream Scenario, according to Deadline. Cage won huge acclaim for recent roles in Pig and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, in which he starred with Pedro Pascal, and with A24 being on something of a hit making run themselves, with the likes of Hereditary, Midsommar and Everything, Everywhere All At Once, the combination seems certain to work out well for everyone.

There is not much currently known about Dream Scenario, or the role Cage will be playing in the movie. However, we know the film will be written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli and produced by Jacob Jeffke and Tyler Campellone. There have been no other details on casting, or the plot of the movie. Square Peg will be the production company on the movie, which was founded by Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster, who directed both Hereditary and Midsommar for A24, and his next film is Disappointment Blvd, a horror comedy starring Joaquin Phoenix.

Of course, while Dream Scenario is being labelled as a comedy, anyone who has seen previous work by Aster will be aware that there are usually some dark types of comedy included in his movies and this one will likely not be any different. The addition of Nicolas Cage in the mix, just makes the entire project even more intriguing, and it will no doubt gain plenty of interest once more information is known.

No matter how you turn it, Nicolas Cage is one of those actors that audiences either love or hate. Recently, he has been seeing much more of the former and is now attached to a number of big upcoming projects. Cage was seen in the drama Pig, starring as a truffle-hunter living long in the Oregon wilderness and has to return to Portland to rescue his kidnapped forging pig.

In compete contrast to that dramatic role, Cage scored another hit this year with the meta-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Starring the Face/Off actor as a fictional version of himself, the unconventional buddy comedy was a huge hit with both critics and audiences and gave Cage one of the best reviewed movies of his career.

Towards the end of 2021, Cage was the surprise casting to play Dracula in the upcoming Universal Monsters spin-off movie Renfield. Starring as the master of Nicholas Hoult’s titular character, the movie filmed earlier this year and a number of set photos have shown a glimpse of Cage seemingly hamming it up as the iconic Count. Not content with these roles, Cage has already been cast as the voice of High Fire in the Paramount+ show of the same name, about a vodka-drinking, Flashdance-loving dragon, and is said to be in talks for potential sequels to both National Treasure and Face/Off. Renfield will be released on April 14, 2023. High Fire and newly announced Dream Scenario have yet to be given release dates, but are both are likely to premiere sometime in 2024.
